AI Riley: a cheerful bowl of Irish stew who runs The Aisling, an Irish pub with a pot of stew on the fire, under a sign that reads The Aisling

How it works

Read, try, notice

Every lesson is one small idea at one Irish pub, told by the publican himself, in plain English. You read it in about 3 minutes, you try one thing, and you start noticing AI in your own day.

  • Read

There are 21 lessons, and each one carries 1 idea in about 3 minutes. The transcript is the lesson: word for word, no summary, no jargon.

  • Try

Every lesson asks you to predict, to picture a scene, or to do one small thing that week. You answer before you peek. That is how the idea sticks.

  • Notice

By the last bowl, you can name what AI is doing when your phone unlocks by face, when the bank blocks a card, and when a chat answer sounds confident and wrong.

The narration

One language, one honest note

Every lesson is written in English. The spoken narration is read in the same voice, and it lands here lesson by lesson. The words you read are the words you will hear. Corrections are welcome, always.

English first

The original. The words on the page were written first, lesson by lesson, and the voice in the player reads exactly those words.

Read today, listen as it lands

Every lesson is fully readable right now. The narration is added lesson by lesson, in the same voice, and a lesson never depends on sound.

Corrections welcome

If a line sounds wrong to you, I want to hear it. Note the lesson and the words, and send it through the contact form.

Who it is for

8 to 80, one counter

If you are 8

You already know the pub. The course only adds the words for what the publican is really doing: predicting, sorting, learning from examples. Read it with a grown-up if you like.

If you are 38

The headlines call it magic or menace, and it is neither. After 21 short reads, you can tell the difference, at work and at the dinner table.

If you are 80

Big text, short lessons, no sign-up, nothing to install. If you can read a menu, you can read this course. Your stool at the counter is ready.

Running this for a class, a grandchild, or an elder? The teach page has the session shape.

Taste one

Sample lesson: Sorting the Carrots: Fresh or Spoiled?

Lesson 2.1, straight from the course. This is the whole shape: a scene, one idea, a try, one line to take away.

I run an Irish pub. Every morning at 5 a.m., you will find me at the back door, going through my delivery. Fresh carrots go into my basket. Spoiled ones stay out. I do not write anything down. I do not run any tests. I pick up a carrot, feel it, look at it, and I just know. I do this five hundred times before the sun is properly up.

Open Lesson 2.1

Pull up a stool.

One hour, 21 short reads, and AI stops being a headline. The first bowl is on the house.
